Nominating Committee
Chaired by Andrew Thalheimer, P.Eng., the Nominating Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining principles consistent with high standards of governance, and continually reviewing and assessing ESANS' governance system.
The Committee identifies and recommends candidates for election or appointment to the Board and ensures that orientation programs are in place for new directors, as well as an ongoing education program for all directors to ensure that their knowledge and understanding of ESANS' strategic plan and their responsibilities as directors are kept current.
The Committee is also responsible for developing and recommending to the Board a process for assessing the Board, its committees, and individual directors.
Recent Accomplishments
The following accomplishments during the 2010-2011 fiscal year have served to re-energize the board and enhance
ESANS’ profile:
- Information / Recruitment Sessions for Volunteers and potential Directors were conducted in January and April 2010. These sessions were attended by representatives of over 20 companies.
Planned Activities 2010 - 2011
Initiatives and activities planned by the nominating committee during the 2010-2011 fiscal year include:
- maintain familiarity with bylaws and policies regarding recruiting and nominating new board members
- ensure the board and individual board members are evaluated on a regular basis
- maintain records of current directors' skills, experiences, and terms of service
- analyze the current board's skills and areas for improvement, as well as anticipating the future needs of the board
- develop selection criteria to be used in the recruitment process
- initiate the brainstorming of potential candidates with the help of the board and the organization
- screen suitable candidates according to the selection criteria and recommending successful individuals to the board of directors
- ensure the new board members receive proper orientation and other necessary training
Expected Outcomes
Enhancement of ESANS board operating processes and continued opportunity for high-level board member input shall serve to raise the profile of ESANS and continually attract key environmental industry representatives to contribute their abilities, influence, and affluence to the association as a member of the board.
