Former Minister of Environment - Mr. Mark Parent

"Peering into the Future" - The Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act (EGSPA) recognized the self-evident truth that economic sources of capital depend upon natural sources of capital and that economic progress is impossible without environmental sustainability. Thus, rather than treat the economic activity as distinct from and in some senses opposed to environmental concerns, EGSPA sought to marry the two concerns in one unified package in order to stimulate growth in environmental industries and "green' traditional industries.

Is EGSPA accomplishing its goal? What progress has been made? What does the future hold?

"ESANS Day with the Governments" - Marriott Harbourfront, Halifax

Over 40 organizations in the environmental
community attended to hear about major project and collaboration funding...

It was heard loud & clear by ESANS during the 2009 Membership Survey that useful interaction with government representatives is a high priority for members. As a result, ESANS organized this event for our members to hear the current status of government focus and direction, and the associated upcoming opportunities.

The federal, provincial and municipal governments communicated a variety of topics that are of high interest to ESANS members. This inaugural annual event provided the opportunity for ESANS led interactions with Government representatives in the environmental sector.

The event was a mixture of Panel Discussions - Breakout Sessions - Audience Questions and Answers.
